Stealth Corset

Stealth Corset

I created this custome corset for a Mother of the Bride to wear under her special occasion dresses. The goal was to minimize and smooth the abdomen and accentuate the waist, without showing garment lines. This corset smooths the waist, tummy, and back all in one garment. Constructed with 100% cotton coutil outer layer and cotton calico quilt fabric is used for the floating lining. Flat steal bones offer support all around the garment. A bit of cut lace gives this corset that extra bit of elegance.

I created this custom corset for a very special client. She gave me the freedom to design something original for her. She requested red and black with maybe white. After talking with her I knew she was not one for frilly flowery details, so when this Art Deco-inspired lace called out, I knew it would be perfect. I did have to cut apart the lace to make it fit around this curvacious garment. This corset is also reversible, as the inside is just as finished and as beautiful as the outside. White satin coutil and organic cotton twill are the outer and inner layers. All the stitching is with black thread even around the cording in each panel. There is also black satin at the center front and as the waistband on the inside.

I fell in love with this fabric and decided to make a corset for myself. It was maybe my 3rd corset ever and adapted from a commercial corset I liked, but it was too small in the bust.
