Who I Am

Greetings!

As early as I can remember, nothing is more magical than a pristine box of crayons or markers full of stories waiting to be shared. The materials I use today are usually more sophisticated, like acrylic paints and inks, but also still some common items like crayons and magazine clippings.

I went to art school...sorta... I earned a BFA in scenic design and an unofficial art history minor from Syracuse University, including a semester in Florence, Italy. I also learned specialized historical techniques of painting backdrops for theater and film and graduated from Cobalt Studios' Professional Scenic Artists Training Program. From these institutions, I learned how to tell stories, why we tell them, and how to illustrate them well, but they were not your typical art school experiences.

I do love theater and multi-discipline creative activities, but at the end of most days, I would rather be painting.

My work often incorporates themes relating to destruction, renewal, and identity, finding moments of beauty in the chaos. I enjoy working with collage because It allows the destruction of one item to incorporate it into another. Magazine pages and ephemera of all kinds have become my crayon box. I layer collage elements with various other media to create new images that help me understand how it all fits together.

I live in New Hampshire with my dear husband and a fluffy, fluffy kitty cat.
